Huwaida Bulhan

Scientific Operations Lead Roche, on behalf of IFPMA

Huwaida Bulhan was inspired early on in her medical career to make a difference in communities and transform the way healthcare is delivered. This has led her through an interesting professional and life journey, allowing her to remain curious, learn, adapt, while always challenging how things are done and whether they could be done differently, better.

She is a strategic thought leader, well versed in developing and leading high-performance teams, and a multidisciplinary healthcare professional who is committed to delivering the best evidence-based practices that drive quality access to healthcare for all. She is passionate about scientific innovation and clinical research as a means of inspiring, driving, and shaping healthcare thought leadership, especially in underserved communities, clinical practice, and evidence generation that will guide the development of local standards of care, as well as sparking evolving innovation and policy change.

Huwaida has had an enriching career that has spanned Africa, Europe, and North America, with a realization that we have more in common than what sets us apart.

She is a committed leader, serving on the Advisory Council for Women of Color in Pharma (WOCIP). She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Cross-Pharma Capacity Development Initiative (CPCDI) led by the Science Foundation for Africa (SFA), and as a Steering Committee member for the Clinical Research Society of Kenya (CRSK).

She is also an advocate for and supporter of the advancement of women in STEAM. She believes in the importance of creating inclusive environments where all voices can be heard while coaching upcoming talent for generations to come. In this regard, she is proud to be recognized as the WOCIP Global Icon Winner of 2024.
