Senior Programme Manager - Science Communication and Engagement Science for Africa Foundation

Lillian Mutengu is currently responsible for strategic planning and execution of an engagement support programme for The African Academy of Sciences (AAS). She has over 20 years’ experience in community and public engagement, health and development communication and policy advocacy in Biomedical Research as well as Reproductive Health.

Lillian has extensively worked in the fields of HIV/AIDS, emerging epidemics such as Ebola and Marburg hemorrhagic fevers and reproductive health. She has established programmes and led teams to identify and execute innovative engagement strategies that support better understanding and involvement of local communities, cohorts and broader publics in biomedical research.

Prior to joining The AAS, Mutengu worked with the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative Africa Regional Office (Kenya), US Military HIV Research Programme (Uganda) and Straight Talk Foundation (Uganda). She has academic training in Social Sciences and Public Health.
